The Alohura Shawl

Hello everyone :)
Last month I became a test knitter for Jane Aroujo (mawelucky on Ravelry)
and test knitted her new shawl design Alohura (pattern available here)
It is a beautiful design that starts with a Turkish Cast On so that the top lace edge can be knit at the same time as the body of the shawl. The zigzag pattern gives the shawl a lovely drape and the cast off adds to the zigzag pattern to make it seemless.
I knit the shawlette wrap version, but more of the body pattern can be added to make a medium or even a large shawl.

Gossamer Shawls

Hello everyone :)
I have been busy trying to knit for my Etsy Store Alyssa Jean's Knitwear.....after all good intentions I have knit a grand total of 2 lol.

Burgandy Gossamer Shawl.....1 ply/cobweb Bramwell Silky 100% Acrylic can be machine washed.
Knit in a tuck lace design to make it light and airy, great for a summer wear
cover up or wrap around the neck for a light airy scarf.
Turquoise Gossamer Shawl....1 ply/cobweb Bramwell Silky 100% Acrylic can be machine washed.
Knit in a tuck lace design to make it light and airy, great for a summer wear
cover up or wrap around the neck for a light airy scarf.

It's wonderful here now we have finally got the better weather, the sun is out and the winter clothes have been put away, now I can think about summer wear and what I would love to wear.....only trouble is, my wardrobe is very dated and I need to get the sewing machine out and buy some new upto date patterns and fabrics, I haven't had my sewing machine out for years.....now is the time, wish me luck :)

Have a great day everyone :)

In The Pink

Knitted with 4.5mm needles and King Cole Zig Zag colourway Cornucopia 748

Hello everyone :)
Well this took me 4 weeks and 2 days to complete.....but I did do the "Devine" cardigan for Mother's Day in between, so I cannot say how long it would take if I knit this one monogamously :)
This looks stunning against a black wool coat, it makes the design really pop. The pattern is from Ravelry and designed by Izzyknits here.

This shawl is available in my etsy store or order one in a colour of your choice and I will have it ready to post in 4 weeks :)

Some knitting to catch up on :)

Hello everyone :)
Sorry that I haven't updated in a while home life has had to take priority for a while.

I haven't been lazy though, I have been knitting, these have all been hand knit so that I could knit at the hospital (hubby) and at home....I couldn't carry the knitting machine to hospital lol.

Tights/leggings for Alyssa, knitted with King Cole ZigZag 4ply sock yarn.
Shawl called Travelling Companion triangle version.

Shawl called Uhura with pearl beads.
Currently on the needles is In The Pink.
Patons Devine Lace Cardigan......knitted with 50% Merino 50% Lace for Mum on Mothers Day 10.3.2013 (UK)
Keep well everyone, I do hope that I do still have the odd visitor and that I am not talking to myself....although I do a lot of that at home lol.

Happy New Year All.......

Hi Everyone :)
Well we had a quiet Xmas this year, mainly because we were ill......1st the winter vomiting bug swept through the family and then we caught the flu and I developed a chest infection! All is well now though :)
Here is a few photo's of knitted xmas gifts I have knitted......

This is a scarf that I knitted for Alyssa, to go with the Lace Dress that I knitted earlier, although this one was knitted by hand knit, not with the knitting machine (all the xmas gifts this year were hand knit, as the machines have been packed away until Feb).
Since I have packed away the machines while we have the bungalow decorated, I have got hooked on knitting lace shawls on circular needles and have found lots of lovely patterns on Ravelry
This is "Uhura Shawlette" I have knitted this in Sock yarn and the one below is knitted in a silk and wool blend.

I am currently knitting"Dragonfly Wings" in a red/gold silk blend.
I have more to share with you soon, I have to wait for birthday gifts to be opened before I can share photo's :)

Finished!

The dress is finished....just the matching cardigan to knit now :)

The frill section is knit using the Brother KH910, I picked a white 2 ply to use as the base and hand manipulated the scarf yarn onto every other needle (EON) on every 5th row.
The lace part I knit on the Passap Duo 80 using hand manipulation for the pattern using a 3ply white baby soft.

I am going to buy a silk camisole to go underneath the lace.

An experiment :)

This is probably the maddest thing I have done for a while, but I have had an idea in my head for a year now and I have to get it out of my system!

Ever since wonderful novelty yarns for scarfs came out I have been thinking about using some to knit Alyssa a frilly dress......friends said "it won't work, you have to hand knit it not machine knit" and I said phooey, I can get it to work because it looks awesome in my head!

Anyway after a year thinking about it, I have given in to the urge and started a dress using Ice Samba Yarns and Wendy "Peter Pan" 3 ply, using the Brother KH910 I used a cast on rag and then started 5 rows of white Peter Pan, then hand fed the Ice Samba onto every other needle (repeated to desired length) Then at the waist changed to the Passap Duo 80 and knit hand transfer lace with the Peter Pan........Here's the back finished.....

a close up.....
I will update with a finished picture when I'm done :)
